How it is calculated
A cow can reach dry-off by two routes. The calculator shows both and uses whichever date comes first.
The second criterion covers cows that are not pregnant or that conceived late: without it, they would stay in the milking group indefinitely, giving less and less milk.
Frequently asked questions
How accurate is the calving date?
It is an expected date. Most cows calve within a window of about ten days around it, so it pays to start watching her beforehand.
What if the cow is not pregnant?
Leave the conception service date blank. The calculator uses only dry-off by time in production, counted from the last calving date.
What value should I enter for maximum days in production?
Whatever your protocol sets. 305 days is the most widely used reference, but each farm adjusts it to its production and management.
